Shared lane markings

Line markings on road

Shared lane markings known as 'sharrows' are painted on streets in Denman Prospect to improve road safety.

A sharrow is a bicycle logo with two chevrons (or ‘arrows) above it, as pictured on the right. They are placed on residential streets that have low traffic volumes and no on road cycle lanes.

The purpose of sharrows is to:

Sharrows highlight the presence of people riding bicycles on the road and remind everyone to share the road safely. Unlike bike lanes, they do not designate a particular part of the street for the exclusive use of people riding bicycles.
